Board of Finance

The Board of Finance is responsible for overseeing the Town's finances, budget process, and for recommending the town and school district budgets to the annual budget referendum . Following approval of the budgets by the voters, the Board of Finance sets the annual tax Mill Rate for use in calculating property taxes. The town and school districts operate on a fiscal year running from July 1 to the subsequent June 30.

2026 Meeting Schedule

The Board of Finance is considering the adoption of procedural guidelines for the preparation of the annual Capital Budget for the Town of Ridgefield. These are intended to provide guidance to the Board of Selectpersons and Board of Education in their submission of Capital Budget requests, as well as to facilitate evaluation and consideration of such requests by the Board of Finance and the voters. These guidelines are intended to be procedural only -- they are intended to supplement the provisions of the Town Charter governing the development of the capital budget, and do not change any aspects of the actual approval process by town voters.
