In partnership with the Ridgefield Public Schools, our School Resource Officers (SROs) interact and protect the thousands of students and staff in Ridgefield's nine public schools. SROs provide for a safe and secure school environment. In addition, they act as a resource for the students and educational staff.

RPD's School Resource Officers are members of the National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO). NASRO, the world’s leader in school-based policing, is a not-for-profit organization founded in 1991 with an unrelenting commitment to school safety.

The Uniform Division Commander is Captain Jeff Raines. Captain Raines oversees all patrol officers, sergeants and lieutenants, and he is responsible for all extra duty and special town events.  Currently, he commands a staff of 30 uniform division officers.

The Detective Division Commander is Captain Jeffrey Smith. Captain Smith supervises four detectives, one of whom also serves as the Department's Youth Officer.  Captain Smith also serves as Court Liaison for the Department. The Detective Division can be contacted directly by the following numbers:

The Division of Professional Standards Commander is Captain Brian Durling.  Captain Durling oversees departmental training programs and serves as a liaison to the Connecticut Police Academy. The Division of Professional Standards also encompasses the department's Media (PIO), Community Policing, Public Relations, Accreditation Officer, and DARE programs.
