Wayne Floegel is one half of Ridgefield’s Registrar of Voters team, working alongside Jenn Caron. Though they represent different political parties, Wayne and Jenn work seamlessly together with a shared focus on serving the public. They respect one another, enjoy working as a team, and bring a great sense of humor to the job.

Wayne has served as Registrar for seven years. He enjoys the part-time nature of the role, which allows him to be a hands-on parent and stay active in community service. Before joining Ridgefield Town Hall, he worked as a special education paraprofessional in the Ridgefield Public Schools.

His work is guided by a detailed 126-page manual, and he prides himself on staying up to date with Connecticut’s ever-evolving election laws. Wayne strives to bring transparency, fairness, and clarity to every part of the voter registration process.

He hopes to see a fully digital system in the future to reduce paperwork and human error. Wayne is especially proud of Connecticut’s strong election laws and low error rates compared to other states.

Wayne’s favorite election days are town referendums, when the entire community votes in one location and he gets to connect with more residents.
Originally from Brooklyn, Wayne has lived across the U.S. and considers San Diego home. He holds a degree in radio broadcasting from Point Loma Nazarene University and started his career in media before transitioning to sales. While living in Denver, he met his wife Elizabeth—an avid bunco player. They have two children: Noah, a student at the University of Maine, and Rachel, who will be attending West Virginia University.

Wayne’s first political involvement was in Naperville, Illinois, where he helped revitalize the town’s waterfront and was on the Transportaion Advisory board.  That experience inspired him to become active in Ridgefield right away. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Ridgefield Fathers Club, MS. President US, and is a member of the Danbury Elks Lodge 120. He’s proud of the community work these organizations do for families and youth.

A self-proclaimed "Man of Leisure," Wayne is a lifelong Jimmy Buffett fan, having attended 90 concerts. You might see him around town riding “Bianca,” his 2021 Vespa, channeling Buffett’s laid-back lifestyle. When the weather turns cold, he escapes to Margaritaville through music by the fireplace.

Wayne recently became a Justice of the Peace and was surprised by how much joy he gets from officiating weddings.

Of all the places he’s lived, Ridgefield stands out. Wayne appreciates the people, opportunities, and energy of the town—and says this just might be the place he stays the longest.
