Administrator - Conservation Commission

Description: 

  • Maintains all records of open space and conservation easements as required by
  • Assists in budget preparation; maintains budget records, and processes vouchers for payment. Prepares monthly report of expenditures and deposits.
  • Monitors bank accounts; prepares monthly status report.
  • Assists in the hiring of summer help and manages their timesheets. Handles biweekly payroll filing for both self and seasonal staff.
  • Deals with the public regarding conservation matters.
  • Prepares agendas/minutes for meetings; distributes to commissioners and Town Clerk.
  • Coordinates the open space fund drive on a yearly basis, maintains record of contributions, etc.
  • Interfaces with other Town departments as necessary.
  • Composes correspondence for the Commission.
  • Regular attendance as required by the position including Monday and/or Wednesday evening, bi-monthly, and special meetings.
  • Maintains and updates the Commission website.
  • Prepares new resident welcome letters identifying nearby open space parcels and easements.

Other Duties:

  • Maintains all department files.
  • Prepares maps for the commission as required.
  • Works with commissioners on Ranger reports.
  • Helps to coordinate the maintenance of open space properties.
  • Distributes Walk and the Natural Resource Inventory books as needed, and deposits funds received. Keeps a database of funds received.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the commission.

Experience/Qualifications:

  • College graduate with prior business or municipal experience
  • Knowledge of conservation issues a
  • Expertise with Microsoft Word and Excel and related programs.
  • Experience with graphics programs like Paint.net
  • Experience with setting up and running Zoom meetings.
  • Experience with website design programs
  • Excellent communication

Physical Requirements:

  • Normal office environment with typical business Ability to sit, stand, use the computer for various data entry and website building programs. The ability to communicate with the public in-person and via email.
  • Occasional field work in open spaces requires the ability to traverse uneven grounds and walk extended distances through trails.

Nonunion, Part-Time - 3 Days per Week (12 Hours) and night meetings
Salary Range: $23.00 -$25.65/hour – depending on experience
