Chief of Police
Jeff Kreitz was appointed to Police Chief of the Ridgefield Police Department in October 2018. He oversees a staff of 44 sworn officers and nine civilian employees. The Ridgefield Police Department is a P.O.S.T Council Tier III Accredited Department, serving a town of over 25,000 residents.
A native of Ridgefield, he has served the Department since 2003. He rose through the ranks of the Ridgefield Police Department, commanding the Division of Professional Standards prior to his promotion as Chief. Central to his vision is community engagement and outreach, as well as the promotion of transparency and accountability. He is committed to the Department's employees and their well-being.
The Chief is a graduate of Western Connecticut State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Justice and Law Administration.
