Health Department Mission:
The Ridgefield Health Department is dedicated to promoting the physical, environmental, and mental well-being of our community. We work to keep Ridgefield safe and healthy by preventing disease, providing education, conducting inspections, and monitoring public health concerns. Through the enforcement of federal, state, and local health regulations, we strive to create a healthier environment for all residents.

Online: If you're looking for Health permit or license information, you may be able to find the information scanned online (as of Oct 2017). It isn't necessary to 'register' to find the information. Simply click on the VPCloud dashboard, click 'Search', and type in a partial address. The full address pops up below, select it and most of the permits associated with the address are listed (Health files prior to Oct 2017 may not be online). Click on the permit, select 'File' tab. Click on the Blue permit #, right click "Version 1" and select 'open link in new tab'. The PDF appears below left. Click 'Open file' and you can print the pages you need. If you don't find what you need, it may be 'historical" information...

In conjunction with the Building and Zoning departments (for properties that are connected to a septic system and/ or private well), review, inspect and approve:

- Building addition/alterations
- Swimming Pools
- Accessory Structures
- Accessory Apartments
Annually and periodically inspect:
- Food Service Establishments, Itinerant Vendors and Caterers
- Temporary Food Events and Farmer's Market

Investigate Complaints:
Ridgefield Health Department investigates all written public health complaints received. Anonymous complaints are not accepted as per the First Selectman's office.
Investigate and Follow-up on Disasters and Communicable disease:
Works with the local area Directors, State and Federal officials to coordinate efforts state-wide.
Provides disaster resources for residents, as applicable to each event.
Provides Public awareness via Health department web-page Press Releases (i.e. Storms, Zika, Coronavirus etc.).

The Ridgefield Health Department accepts complaints of public health nuisances in writing, when accompanied by the complainant's name, address, phone number, and signature. Anonymous complaints cannot be accepted.To file a complaint of a public health nuisance, click here to print the form. Complete the form and submit it to our office in the 2nd floor at the Town Hall Annex - 66 Prospect Street, Ridgefield by stopping by or you can email the completed & signed form to us at: [email protected]
Upon receipt of your completed complaint form, the nuisance will be investigated and appropriate action will be taken to remedy the situation in accordance with all state health codes and local ordinances.
